Mouse cutaneous lupus erythematosus (CLE) model

Cutaneous lupus erythematosus (CLE) is a chronic autoimmune skin disease with diverse clinical manifestations, ranging from isolated skin lesions to systemic involvement. It is often triggered or exacerbated by ultraviolet (UV) exposure, which induces DNA damage and upregulation of autoantigens in keratinocytes. HKeyBio offers a well-validated model of UVB radiation-induced CLE in MRL/lpr mice, a strain prone to lupus-like autoimmunity. This model recapitulates key features of human CLE, including photosensitive skin lesions, elevated anti-dsDNA autoantibodies, lymphadenopathy, and characteristic skin histopathology (interface dermatitis, inflammatory infiltrate). It provides a powerful platform for preclinical efficacy testing of new treatments for cutaneous lupus.
