Juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA)

● Symptoms and Causes

Juvenile idiopathic arthritis(JIA), formerly known as juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, is the most common type of arthritis in children under the age of 16. Some types of JIA can cause serious complications, such as growth problems, joint damage and eye inflammation. Treatment focuses on controlling pain and inflammation, improving function, and preventing damage.

Juvenile idiopathic arthritis occurs when the body's immune system attacks its own cells and tissues. It's not known why this happens, but both heredity and environment seem to play a role.

CFA Induced SD JIA Model

【Mechanism】The use of a rat animal model to evaluate the disease characteristics of JIA has already been proven. Adjuvant-induced arthritis is one of the best experimental models to study the effects of arthritis and is still widely used in the preclinical testing of JIA. The best available model of JIA for chronic inflammation is complete Freund’s adjuvant (CFA)-induced arthritic model. CFA-induced arthritis is a model of chronic polyarthritis with features that resemble JIA.
