Systemic Sclerosis(SSc) /Scleroderma
● Symptoms and Causes
Scleroderma is an autoimmune disease of the connective tissue caused by increased production and accumulation of the protein collagen in the body tissues. Collagen overproduction could be influenced by: Abnormal immune reactions/Changes in genes/ Family history.
Symptoms of scleroderma depend on the body parts affected. It generally causes hardening and tightening of skin and connective tissues.

● Models in place 【Date➡Models】
●BLM Induced BALB/c SSc Model 【Mechanism】Bleomycin (BLM) is a copper-chelating peptide that can cleave DNA, and it is widely used as an anti-tumor agent for various types of malignancies, including squamous cell carcinomas and lymphoma. Intradermal administration of BLM in mice has been shown to induce skin fibrosis that closely resembles SSc. Autoantibody production was also detectable in this model, indicating that BLM treatment induces autoimmunity. |
